Infinity and Olsent Cables
On 27 August 2014, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) announced the recall of Infinity and Olsent-branded cable after they failed electrical safety standards due to poor quality plastic insulation coating. Tests have found that the cable will degrade prematurely and if disturbed, could break and expose live conductors. This could potentially cause electric shocks or fires.
Infinity and Olsent-branded cable was sold in the ACT between 2011 and 2013, however it may have been available here from 2010 to 2013, as suppliers were able to purchase it in NSW.

What cables have been recalled?
All sizes and configurations of TPS and Orange Round mains power cables sourced from Infinity Cable Co Pty Ltd and supplied under ‘INFINITY’ and ‘OLSENT’ brands are affected.
The cable is labelled ‘INFINITY’ or ‘OLSENT’ at 1 metre intervals.
Why have the cables been recalled?
The cables do not comply with the ageing requirements of the electrical safety standard, AS/NZS 5000, and expert advice is that they may become prematurely brittle and break if disturbed, exposing the internal conductors and potentially causing electrical shock or fires.
